I remember my fifth grade teacher giving me back a multiple choice exam and saying “you marked your own test”. He noticed that I had made a faint mark with my pencil next to each of the three questions I got wrong. I didn’t know the answers to those questions, but I knew exactly what I knew and what I didn’t.
Growing up, we learned that there were four English words with no rhyming counterpart (orange, purple, silver, and month), but…I guess there are more.
if listening to music gives you ideas, then listen to music. if looking at photographs gives you ideas, then spend time looking at photographs. notice what you do that works, write it down, and repeat it.
